Lockdown and Spirituality

Ever since the world came to standstill due to the lockdown and other restrictions since March’20, the value of few emotions skyrocketed.

Last year, in March, I never thought my daily routine would involve getting out of bed and walk straight for less than 3 seconds to reach my ‘office’. I remember March’20 as a month where I bid farewell to my closest friends I made living in the UK. My journey of coming from India to the UK and obtaining a Tier-1 Startup Visa was super exciting. But the most important lessons I have learnt here is to accept yourself. I have come across hundreds if not thousands of articles on accepting yourself, overcoming your fears, and what not.

My journey towards accepting myself involved super difficult steps but definitely worthwhile. Please note that this story revolves around my understanding and is in no way intended to hurt anyone’s feelings.

I want to do a series of stories where I talk about various phases of this journey, so I will try to keep this story limited to spirituality.

At a point in life, loneliness and anxiety took a toll on me that I almost stopped LIVING in the present. I used to make up thousands if not millions of scenarios which would never happen or be thinking about past stuff. One of my friends suggested I should try out spiritual methods — meditation, yoga, mindfullness, and what not. While doing so, I had the opportunity to talk to one of my meditation guru from Maharishi Sansthan (we used to have Meditation practice in school as well) who helped me connect with another guru.

While talking to him, I realized something very important — that ancient dharmic techniques seemed to help me more than anything else. Curious to know what that technique was? It was to HELP others and I found solace in helping friends forget their problems (sometimes it backfired because of the devil inside me ;-)). I redefined my spiritual practice and held of the dharmic principle — शतहस्त समाहर सहस्रहस्त संकिर which essentially translates to ‘Earn with Hundred hands, Donate with a Thousand’.

Spirituality, in my definition, is accepting your flaws and loving yourself so much that your energy and vibe could be felt by others. When I started working on SwiftSkill, I knew one thing for sure — this is it! There’s no going back.

My motive behind the blog is not to inspire hundreds of people or gain thousands of followers but to help that ONE person who needs it. YOU are strong enough and YOU are capable. Please let me know your feedback in the comments to help me improve myself.
